Teen Volunteers

The Zoo & You

DATE: June 9 - 13
TIME: 9 am - 12:30 pm
CLASS FEE: $30*

It's an exciting week of volunteer training for registered Explorers (teen volunteers). Actual hands-on experiences, job shadowing, assigned duties and other projects will teach teens about the entire zoo operation.

Explorer t-shirts must be worn everyday with appropriate jeans or shorts. Only closed shoes are permitted and students wearing open shoes such as sandals or clogs will not be allowed to work. Permission forms are required for Explorers to leave the campus each day with zoo staff members for lunch.
Call 441-6815 to register.

*This fee only covers luches each day and does not cover Explorer registration or t-shirt cost.

Explorer Post 2033

The Zoo Explorer Post is a coed program of Boy Scouts of America. It is sponsored by the City of Alexandria. Explorers offer volunteer service to the Zoo through a variety of duties that include zookeeper assistance, special events, grounds maintenance, construction and education programs.

Not only will your service help the zoo and its programs, but volunteer work is a great addition to your resume!

Click here for the Boy Scouts of America Youth Application.

For more information contact Lee Ann Whitt at (318) 441-6815, or the Zoo office at 441-6810.
