The GABOON VIPER has the longest fangs of any snake, measuring up to 1.6 inches long. It is also the heaviest venomous snake in Africa, averaging 18 pounds. The STRIPED SKUNK is the smelliest mammal. Its pungent odor is used as a defense against encroaching predators. The skunk has stink glands at the base of the tail and can squirt a yellow, nauseating fluid at its enemies with devastating accuracy. The ALLIGATOR SNAPPING TURTLE is the largest North American fresh water turtle. They can reach 3 feet in length and weigh over 200 pounds. |
