Global Efforts
Zoos are involved in field conservation research projects where species are introduced into ecosystems and habitats are protected. The Alexandria Zoo participates in several research support projects which include the clouded leopard, ring tailed lemur, malayan tiger, squirrel monkey, black bear, spotted skunk, tapir, tayra, and jaguar.
North America
The Alexandria Zoo works cooperatively with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the Red Wolf Recovery Plan, and with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries with the Louisiana Black Bear.
