FACTS:
Variations of bright red, black and silver we find so attractive in the koi were produced by the skill and infinite patience of Chinese and Japanese breeders. Koi were carefully bred and selected to produce desired colorations which bring a high price. ($55,000 is the record amount paid for koi carp.)
If care of breeders stops, the koi will begin to produce young of the original dull hue.
