DESCRIPTION:
Elongate green to greenish brown, heavy-bodied fish. Tail is not more than 1.5 times the length of the body. There are no pectoral or pelvic fins. The dorsal fin runs the length of the back, joining the anal fin. They have no scales, instead the body is covered by slime.

FACTS:
Solitary; Forages at night; Hides in caves

YOUNG:
Numerous eggs hatch into transparent pelagic larvae

STATUS:
Not threatened.
