DESCRIPTION:
Considered to be most beautiful of the peacock pheasants
Male has a crest of metallic blue with white lines above and below the eye.
Long tail coverts show large "eyes" during courtship
Female largely brown
FACTS:
Very shy but adaptable and breeds well in captivity
YOUNG/NEST:
2 eggs per clutch; nest on the ground
STATUS:
Not threatened; widespread but not abundant; protected by farmers; suffers from habitat loss; breeds well in captivity
